Let the fans decide once and for all!

What is Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro All About?

Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro

Tsunderes are all the craze! Everybody loves the archetype of a strong female character hiding her delicate heart, and that’s why many Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro manga readers transformed into fans overnight. Even though Nagatoro herself can be a bit of a bully, Nanashi’s manga captured her tsundere essence perfectly, proving it deserved the anime treatment.

Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro is a comedy romance that features the wimpy high school sophomore Naoto Hachiouji who one day crosses paths with a strong-hearted high school freshman named Hayase Nagatoro. Their relationship is straightforward: Nagatoro bullies Hachiouji, makes fun of his hobbies, and makes very suggestive statements to get him nervous. For starters, she made him cry during their first meeting.

As time goes on, their relationship gets a little more laidback. From horrible bullying to a blooming friendship (still with insults here and there), Nagatoro and her senpai become close enough to spend most of their days in Hachiouji’s safe space, the quiet art room. Although Nagatoro’s friends are involved in the teasing action, this doesn’t reflect what Nagatoro really feels about her senpai.

How Did Twitter/X React to the Ending of Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro?

Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro is a loved romantic comedy across the manga universe. However, that isn’t to say that the manga hasn’t met criticism over the years. Some fans didn’t take a liking to Nagatoro’s bullying towards Hachiouji, but some fans opposed this reaction mentioning that it was the premise in the first place. Now that the manga series has ended, how did fans react on Twitter/X?

The 23rd of July 2024 saw the end of Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro and Twitter/X went into a complete uproar, expressing their comments about the manga’s ending. One user said: “Just waiting for the chapter to be translated so I can read it and cry my eyes out.” This shows how anticipated the final chapter of the manga was, and deservingly so.

On the other hand, some fans went mild about the ending, saying: “while im hearing some things about an epilogue chapter, this last chapter was very sweet, it wasnt a 10/10 ending but it was a great read overall.” This is the reaction most of Twitter/X had with the manga’s ending. Most fans felt it was just any ordinary chapter despite its “ending where it all started” trope.

But, besides that, the other fans of Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro were pleased with the simple ending. One user said: “Better to die a hero, than live long enough to see yourself become Boruto.” Even though Boruto caught some strays here, it’d be a delight for Nanashi to know that fans appreciated the ending without asking for more.

The Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro manga has ended, but it lives on in the hearts of its fans. Though it wasn’t a landslide thumbs up from the fans, it was still six good years of relationship-building and fun. The manga is one of the more eye-catching members of the romance-comedy category for its banter and explicitness.
