The Craziest Gojo Comeback Theory That You Wouldn’t Believe

Gojo comeback?

With only one chapter left, Jujutsu Kaisen is ending its tenure as one of the most anticipated mangas ever. The series has recently concluded the Shinjuku Showdown, easily the manga’s most action-packed arc. Fans were treated to front-row seats to the ultimate showdown between the Strongest Sorcerer in the World and The King of Curses: Gojo vs. Sukuna.

The two fought toe-to-toe from JJK 223 to 237—a whopping 15 chapters. Using unheard-of techniques and multiple Domain Expansion battles, both fought tooth and nail to gain the upper hand. However, as Gege Akutami willed it, Gojo fell victim to Sukuna’s world-slicing Dismantle. From then on, fans and social media have non-stop created theories about Gojo’s return and how he can pull it off. The hope is still young and alive even after 30 chapters! But what if he doesn’t need to come back? What if he was hiding under our noses the whole time? What if…he was already in JJK 270?

A Wild Theory Emerges: Could the Mysterious Silhouette Be Gojo?

geto? and takaba in jjk manga

On Saturday, September 21, I was having chai with @meguminfushiguro, all while talking about Jujutsu Kaisen, and how the internet has gone crazy over the possibility of Geto coming back. It was at that moment, with a buttered toast in his hand, he said “What if it’s Gojo?” That line blew my mind. It made me check my entire Twitter/X feed to see if anyone else thought of this. But, to my surprise, no one else thought of this apart from the crazy otaku right in front of me.

Yeah…what if it’s Gojo? It does sound insane, but well…it is possible! And it definitely sounds like the kind of insane thing that could strike Gege Akutami’s mind. So, I decided to look into it.

Plenty of theories have been created to satisfy Gojo believers around the world. From sacrificing one of his innate techniques like the Six Eyes to making an absurd binding vow, all of them have sparked hope in those who believe in their sensei’s comeback. With Gojo nowhere to be found in Jujutsu Kaisen‘s recent batch of chapters, fans are concerned about his whereabouts.

JJK 270 focused on the return of multiple characters from the Culling Game arc. Katana user Daido, sumo wrestler Miyo, and even aspiring mangaka Charles Bernard all made their re-appearances in the manga—confirming their survival after the Culling Game. However, one particular scene in the chapter raised some of the fans’ eyebrows. It featured Takaba and a mysterious silhouette talking about their next comedy skit (in true Takaba fashion). Fans have pointed out the anonymous person looks a lot like Geto/Kenjaku, especially with the luscious long and flowing hair.

And I quote: “What if it’s Gojo?” This theory seems plausible for a few reasons. First, the sorcerers had Geto’s body after Yuta and Todo ambushed Kenjaku in the forest…following his fight with Takaba. Second, since Kenjaku left Geto’s body behind, it was available for the medical team to use. Shoko and the team could have easily transplanted Gojo into Geto’s body, just as they did when they placed Yuta into Gojo’s body.

Does that make sense? Well…it does to me, at least a little bit! Gojo has to be alive, right? Otherwise, why would Megumi visit Tsumiki’s grave but not his? He can’t forget his favorite sensei, right?

X/Twitter Reacts to JJK 270’s Mysterious Silhouette: Could It Be Kenjaku, Geto, or Someone Else?

gojo, kenjaku and geto

What did Gege expect? He purposely showed Geto/Kenjaku’s hair in JJK 270 and had fans riled up on social media. The only problem is the chapter featured just one page of Takaba and the silhouette’s interaction—and fans aren’t even sure what their status could be. Even so, social media went on a rampage when they saw what could be revealed in the last chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen.

On the surface level, it’s easy to believe that Kenjaku could be back in the series. There have been dedicated chapters for Takaba and Kenjaku’s interaction—from their battle to their comedic skits in the midst of it. Takaba considered Kenjaku his fellow comedy enthusiast, the only one who understood the hard work of being a stand-up comedian. If he wanted to revive Kenjaku (despite both of their unknown status), he could’ve easily done so with the help of his Cursed Technique, which can manifest things that he finds funny into reality.

Considering Takaba has some sort of attachment to Kenjaku for his knowledge of stand-up comedy, it wouldn’t be surprising if he wanted Kenjaku to be his next partner-in-crime. But with all the plot twists and impossible comebacks in the story, Gege could have cooked up something new here with none other than Suguru Geto returning to the series.

But it could also be someone else. Nothing is set in stone until Gege proves it otherwise. His face was covered, meaning that his identity is still up in the air, and Gege could be trying to bait fans. Will it be Gojo, Geto, or Kenjaku in that body? Either way, JJK 271 is definitely setting up one of the biggest reveals in Jujutsu Kaisen history.
