The Jujutsu Kaisen manga has stepped it up a notch and JJK 266 continues to prove so. With a climactic end to the rollercoaster that was JJK 265, fans were expecting an all-out brawl between Yuji and Sukuna in the former’s domain. However, they got something even better. Bring out the red carpets because someone’s finally returned to the party.
Chapter 265 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga saw Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna on a wholesome walk…for most of the way. Yuji showed the King of Curses some places he had visited before as a kid, explaining the importance of the departed ones and memories. However, Sukuna quickly realizes that Yuji is doing this because he pitied him—enraging the King of Curses. He then promises to kill everyone Yuji loves in front of him.
Megumi’s Soul, Yuji’s Struggle, and Sukuna’s Fury in JJK 266
Though it wasn’t the action-packed chapter fans expected, Gege Akutami delivered a masterclass. Before you read on, spoilers alert! JJK 266 opened up with Yuji Itadori listening to Megumi Fushiguro’s soul. Megumi tells him that he just wanted to give Tsumiki a world free of injustice. He starts picturing a world where he could have protected and taken care of his sister, make meals, watch the laundry, and walk side by side with a friend like Yuji. ‘Ah, I’m so happy. But it’s okay now,‘ Megumi says.
Instead of uplifting and giving Fushiguro hope, Yuji admitted that he had finally understood the choices made by people facing their imminent fate. He understood Megumi’s feelings and acknowledged his depression. That’s why Yuji couldn’t force himself to ask Megumi to fight for his life and live again.
JJK 266 then snaps back to reality. Sukuna uses Hollow Wicker Basket, countering Yuji’s domain. But at this point, Sukuna is already having issues recovering his Cursed Technique. He considers using Gojo’s technique to replenish burnt-out CT with RCT. However, he realizes that it is an unfeasible solution since his brain is still affected by Gojo’s Unlimited Void. Gojo fans should get a kick out of this!
The popular uncle-nephew duo then greet each other with punches, a powerful trade of blows. Sukuna exclaims that he couldn’t believe how furious he got after figuring out Yuji was looking down on him. He continues to say that he can’t wait to make every human suffer for Yuji’s mistakes.
The scene then switches to Megumi when he was a kid in the alley where he first met Gojo. He asks the same question he asked Gojo, but now to Yuji: “What’s with that face?” To which Yuji replies, “It’ll be sad without you, Fushiguro.” ItaFushi fans, hold your flags up high!
As Yuji and Sukuna battle it out, Sukuna’s leg suddenly sinks into the darkness of Megumi’s shadows. Ladies and gentlemen, Megumi Fushiguro is finally crawling to the other side. This is all thanks to Yuji’s Dismantle, slowly crumbling the space between Megumi and Sukuna’s souls. Sukuna couldn’t even use Mahoraga or the Ten Shadows Technique to help him in combat. He cannot use Megumi’s techniques anymore!
Yuji was winning the back-and-forth, forcing Sukuna back and blowing him away with a punch. He smiled as he finally reached Megumi, recognizing his help, praising his will to fight back. The two are back at it, but Sukuna forcibly uses Hollow Wicker Basket again to negate Yuji’s barrage of punches. As the shield lost its structural integrity, slashes came flying out—hitting Yuji’s cursed tool. Yuji quickly realizes that Sukuna resorted to using RCT to replenish his CT.
The King of Curses then opens his domain. However, he is surprised to see the missing fingers (pinky and ring) on Yuji’s left hand. JJK 266 ends with a finger tied up in an unknown location. Maybe it has something to do with Nobara! Who knows? Only JJK 267 can curb the hunger now as it will feature the climax of the battle between sorcerers and curses. With no break next week, fans are rightfully excited.
