Listen up, Oshi no Ko fans! You’re in for a treat this year—and it’s a big one (or ones). At the start of the year, Prime Video Japan’s official X (formerly Twitter) announced that the series would add more to its resume. From manga to anime, the series will take its talents to a live-action series and movie set to be included in the Winter 2024 anime slate.
The second season of Oshi no Ko is currently ongoing as a part of a stacked Summer 2024 anime lineup, and fans have been loving every second of it. On average, MAL users gave the series a solid 4.4/5 over three episodes of Season 2. That alone tells you how much of a hit this franchise has been, forcing the hands of creator Aka Akasaka and the rest of the team to push more content for the fans.

To elevate the hype, Oshi no Ko‘s official X has been posting trailers for each main character to give fans a peek into what’s in store for them. This campaign has accomplished its mission of further publicizing the live-action projects. Watch them for yourself and let us know what you think!
Oshi no Ko and Kaguya-sama: Love is War creator Aka Akasaka has commented about the live-action projects on X:
On the occasion of the live-action adaptation of Oshi no Ko, Oshi no Ko is a work that makes various references to the entertainment industry. It also mentions the live-action adaptation of manga works. It is not saying only good things. It also says critical things. I thought that maybe Oshi no Ko would never be made into live-action. So when I heard that they would make a live-action adaptation, I wanted to ask both the cast and the production team, “Are you sure you are okay with this?” I am endlessly grateful to everyone who agreed to do it.
I wonder what it is like to create a work set in the entertainment industry, not from the manga artist’s point of view, but from the real world of the entertainment industry, and what the finished work will be like. I am very interested in it, and I am sure you are as well. I hope you will join me in seeing the answer to these questions.
Fans React to Oshi no Ko Live-Action Projects: Excitement and Anticipation on Social Media
With all the hype surrounding Oshi no Ko‘s live-action projects, social media has clearly stated its two cents about the upcoming series and film. X, in particular, has been fired up since the start of the year and fans have been going bonkers lately because of all the released character trailers.
One X user said: “HELLL YESSSSS FINALLY A LIVE ACTION THAT’LL INCLUDE TWO LIVE ACTIONS ACTING IN THEIR LIVE ACTION OF THE ANIME DOING A LIVE ACTION OF TWO MANGA’S LESSS GOOO.” Took the words out of everybody’s mouth. It truly is a live-action-ception with this one!
One X user posted: “Well I guess it’s that time again where we go “I don’t how to feel about this live-action” until it comes out…” Of course, live-action adaptations are always met with concern and high expectations. No release was 100% audience-approved, and Oshi no Ko is no exception.
However, all people can hope for is that it lives up to the hype and adds itself to an already-accomplished list of live-action projects, a list that contains recent titles such as One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Avatar.
